- Q:
- Is electrolysis really permanent?
- A:
- Yes, it is the only positive method known to medical science which will safely remove hair permanently. A great portion of our clientele come directly by referral from their family physician or specialist such as dermatologist, endocrinologist, plastic surgeon, gynecologist or internist. Other methods of hair removal such as shaving, waxing, tweezing, or depilatories provide only temporary relief to the problem of unwanted hair and in some cases even compound the condition.
- Q:
- How does electrolysis remove hair?
- A:
- A professional electrologist introduces a very fine probe gently and skillfully into the natural opening of the skin from which the hair grows. There is a slight, brief sensation of heat caused by a small amount of electrical current released from the probe which destroys the hair root. Once the hair root cell has been totally eliminated, there is no way for that follicle to produce another hair.
- Q:
- Why are a series of treatments necessary?
- A:
- The hair cell of a dark, coarse hair is too large to completely cauterize or eliminate in one treatment. If we attempt to completely eliminate the hair cell in one treatment, we could possibly damage the outer skin. So, we need to break down the hair cell in a series of treatments over a period of time. It is extremely important to retreat the hair at the time it is resurfacing so as not to let it rebuild or regenerate itself. Therefore, regular follow up treatments are just as important as the initial treatment.
- Q:
- What causes the growth of extra hair?
- A:
- Usually it can be traced to a hereditary or glandular disturbance. Some illnesses, operations and medications may also be factors. The hair follicle is ever changing in its growth stages. The average hair will grow several years after which it will be shed, rest in a dormant stage from 3 to 9 months and then rebuild itself to produce new hair. Every hair goes through this cycle. About 80% of a person's hair cells are in active growth and about 20% are in the dormant stage at any one time.
- Q:
- What parts of the body does electrolysis remove hair from?
- A:
- Every part of the body except inside the nose and inside the ear canal. You can even have large areas like your arms and legs treated.
- Q:
- Should I do anything to the area before treatment?
- A:
- The hairs which you'll want to have treated only need to be 1/16 inch long. It is very important that you do not tweeze or wax another hair since it would be another 1 to 3 months before that hair would re-emerge. If possible, the area should be clean and free of make-up before treatment.
- Q:
- How should I care for the area after treatment?
- A:
- Electrolysis will not interfere with daily activities. Most clients experience only slight, temporary redness and swelling following treatment. A list of after care suggestions will be reviewed following your treatment.
- Q:
- What are the costs?
- A:
- 15 min - $26.00
30 min - $40.00
45 min - $54.00
60 min - $65.00
75 min - $78.00
